INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE ON DEATH
Nearly any inspirational quote on death lends itself to a brief poem
or musing. The most popular one is certainly this one from the
Bible:
For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate,
A time for war, and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Note, too, these other
musings on death, each an inspirational quote on death in itself:
Because I could not stop for Death --
He kindly stopped for me --
The Carriage held but just Ourselves --
And Immortality
Emily Dickinson
And now the end is near
And so I face the final curtain,
My friends, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case of which I'm certain.
I've lived a life that's full, I've travelled each and evr'y highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way.
Paul Anka, author of the song "My Way" made famous by Frank
Sinatra
Death ends a life, not a relationship.
Robert Benchley
Death and love are the two wings
that bear the good man to heaven.
Michelangelo
Of every inspirational quote on death
presented here, this touches me the most:
The
last, the very last,
So richly, brightly, dazzingly yellow.
Perhaps if the sun's tears would sing
against a white stone ...
Such, such a yellow
Is carried lightly 'way up high.
It went away I'm sure because it wished to
kiss the world goodbye.
...
That butterfly was the last one.
Butterflies don't live in here,
in the ghetto.
by Pavel Friedmann, as a youth in Terezin
Concentration Camp. He died in Auschwitz on September 29, 1944.
In the world to come, I shall not be asked,
"Why were you not Moses?"
I shall be asked, "Why were you not Zusya?"

shedding of the physical body, like the butterfly coming out of a
cocoon ... It's like putting away your winter coat when spring comes.

When one man dies, one chapter
is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language.

While an inspirational
quote on death is typically gentle, there's a spicy side that serves us
well too:
I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is
prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter.
Winston Churchill
I don't like to commit myself
about heaven and hell - you see, I have friends in both places.
Mark Twain

booked!

I'm not sure there is a
"perfect" inspirational quote on death. Perhaps the only
inspirational quote on death that is truly right is the one that feels
right for your friend.
