Spooky HALLOWEEN QUOTES

What is it about spooky Halloween quotes that we love so much?  That quick jump, the laughter at our own silliness.  It is indeed a delight!

Some of the great books of all time inspired wonderful spooky Halloween quotes, like The Hound of the Baskerville and Dracula.

And, goodness knows, Shakespeare was a genius at spooky Halloween quotes.  His Macbeth and Hamlet still reign two of the great ghost stories of all time.

In high school my nearest neighbor lived in an old three story house hidden in an orchard -- yes, the perfect setting for Halloween.  His parties were legendary.  Bowls of jello and maccaroni, scarecrows falling from trap doors overhead, weird noises screaming into our ears at unexpected moments.  Oh, what great parties!

It was at one of those parties that I first heard a real reading of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven".  ooooooo ... chilling.

In addition to these Halloween quotes, take a look at our Tombstone Quotes too -- but only if you're in a place where you can laugh out loud!

So I'll propose on Halloween.

'Tis now the very witching time of night,
When churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out
Contagion to this world.
William Shakespeare

"I never drink ... wine."
Bram Stoker, Dracula

Then away out in the woods I heard that kind of a sound that a ghost makes when it wants to tell about something that's on its mind and can't make itself understood, and so can't rest easy in its grave, and has to go about that way every night grieving.
As you value your life or your reason keep away from the moor."
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the Hound of the Baskervilles

Double, double, toil and trouble; fire, burn; and caldron, bubble."
Shakespeare, Macbeth

By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes.
Shakespeare, Macbeth
