Baby shower quotes comes in two sizes: teardrop and belly laugh.

Even the hardest heart seems destined to go all mushy at the thought of a new baby. these tiny, helpless creatures have absolute power over us.

It's no wonder that baby showers have been so popular throughout the world. No matter where you are, it seems there is a ceremony to celebrate the new mother and welcome the new being into the world.

The book a nd TV series "Roots," taught us that new babies in some African tribes are presented to God with the moonlight washing over them.

In China of old, it was customary for mother and child to be homebound for a full month to gain strength. Then there is a ceremony with a red egg, symbolizing good luck, and ginger, to ward off evil spirits. The traditional diet of the new mother is chicken whiskey soup and pickled pigs feet. Both dishes are nutritious and have medicinal value because they provide a source of protein and calcium, act as a purifier and blood thinner, and also rid the body of cold air in the system.

In much of the western world we use baby shower quotes to express our love for the new mother and her babe. So often it seems that intense emotions are difficult to express, and so we borrow these inspirational baby quotes from others:

the laugh broke into a thousand pieces
and they all went skipping about,
and that was the beginning of fairies.
